We are all in danger, 2019.

This piece is knitted from danger and caution tape. I have then woven the squares together to make a shoulder bag. The cable ties are the handle. The work talks about how we never feel safe as women. A lot of my work at the moment is about violence against women. Women are continually under threat, particularly as they walk the streets late at night. A large heavy bag can be used as a weapon against their assailant.

Three feminist artists comment on what it means to be a feminist in a post-feminist era. These works are Deborah Eddy’s commentary on the concept of Maintenance Labour. The work that women do, either in the home or in the work place, that goes unnoticed. This allows men to go out into the world without concerning themselves with domestic tasks.

They are invisible to the end consumers.
